Sitting at Starbucks
Waiting for the axe to fall
Like Winston Smith at the
Chestnut Tree Café.
The only difference
I still can't love Big Brother
I still believe
There must be another way.
Sitting at Starbucks
Reading about the Buddha
How he found his bliss
Under the Bodhi tree.
When will I give up
My diffidence
And love my brother?
When will I let
My mind roam free?
Sitting at Starbucks
Writing while a storm rolls in
Young barristas smiling
Under darkening skies.
What is there to be happy about
Heaven collapses from the weight
Why not be happy? My pen replies
