Endurance

Endurance is the lot of man
if we would survive the test of time,
wars, plague, famine, progress,
the decay of crumbling empires,
the discovery of new frontiers,
where the voices of hatred are silent,
the cries of despair are forgotten,
the smiles of destruction are departed,
the liberal grasp, the urgent greed,
are mostly extinguished.
