Natures Pathways

"Save the Niborara River".
                  Nebraska. 'Flatwater'.
Populous enviroment, sandhill cranes,
                            migrating south.
"Cranes Meadow", Platte River.
Observation deck, viewing cranes.
High in the sky, the sun.

Alda cafe, sack lunch.
Binoculars, sun glinted off.
Hundreds & hundreds of cranes landing.
Whoop! Jumping, Wings Flapping.
Cellophaned chicken salad sand.
       Guidebook: Sandhill Cranes.

Marshy sand bars, sun soaked.
Viewed, standing, one legged.
Neck bent down, wings back, pecking.
Bacteriophage, climbing leg.
Metaphor for Sandhill cranes.
              Lost in native environment.

(I typed this poem, 'Natures Pathways', in Chinese and printed it onto rice paper. Then cut out each line and pasted the poem in the night sky. See my newest painting, 'Cranes in Moonlight'.)
