April Snow

1.
In icy whites,
All this swirling world
High Bridge arches
through thick flying
April snow,
Crossing the unseen river,
until it, too, fades
Into whiteness.

2.
Beyond the vanishing point,
A watchtower rises—
So many stones,
Resting on clouds.

3.
Three times today,
I left the warmth of my workplace,
Not to re-view this scene
But to confirm that
I had really

seen it,
each time,

Even now,
The cold and snow
Bring tears to my eyes.
