conveniently forgotten

every step was true
one at a time    in co ordination
one with the other

we are not the lords of this earth

we are its children
as we walked out    into its plains
and its fast flowing

rivers    and between
its tall and    ever growing trees
we remembered that

we chanted our love of all lands and seas

but there came a time
one of thoughtless passion and greed
where we found it    easier

to forget our bond
with mother earth and father sky
and went on a lesser

path    all feet running
to get ahead    of others around us
pushing them down

as we went our selfish way

there once was an
honoring    we kept for each other
we are not the lords

of this earth    we are its children
