falling star

in the corner sits a timepiece
wound so tight    its about to

burst open    sending time reeling
across the    crammed full room

no one noticed    how it got that way
too busy    with their    item-filled

days    but now the ticking's
magnified    and so's the fear

in their ears and eyes    someone
set an alarm up    and trepidation's

that it will go off in our    lifetimes
and no one needs the wakeup call

anyway    making us    apprehensive
stars are falling down    everywhere

in a corner sits a clock    chock full
of all    the time    we need to hold

closely    closely    closely
