hill of Tara

out under the solstice stars
people gather to make sense
of it all   on a sacred hill
5000 years ago
                 and we've been
doing that ever since

midline   the muscle extends across
the bone and bends the body   flexing

come to talk   and bare our
selves and convince of common
experience   a sacred bond forms
around a place
                    of higher ground
and kindred spirits

as the body moves   all contiguous pieces
move as a working team   seamless

people gather to understand
things   the higher vantage of
this hill clears air and senses
then as now
               gathered on slopes
we find each other

on the way up   the being is the sum
of its parts   and much more   unseen

(Note: hill of Tara: political and spiritual capital of ancient Ireland)
