Rain Has Fallen

Welcome rain has fallen in secret at night,
Begun to fill the dry bed of the pond.

Day-moths drone about over the dewy grass,
Busy swallows hawk purposefully in the air.

Flocks of parrots fly from tree to tree,
Office workers in their droves come out into the sun.

Almost it could be spring again, the autumn soul—
Assiduous tree—shivers at the coolness of the breeze.
